Le meilleur déchet est celui qui n’existe pas, et le designer grec George Bosnas l’a bien compris. Ce dernier a imaginé une boîte d’œufs qui peut être plantée après utilisation. Une fois en terre, celle-ci donnera naissance à des légumineuses.
Face à l’urgence climatique (et pour répondre aux attentes des consommateurs), les industriels développent de plus en plus des emballages alimentaires durables. Biodégradables, compostables, faits en matières recyclées, nos contenants passent en mode « green ». Mais une fois utilisés, ces derniers atterrissent encore et toujours à la poubelle. Même durables, les emballages deviennent des déchets qu’il faut traiter et recycler. Pas vraiment l’idéal. Le recyclage permet certes de réduire efficacement l’extraction de matières premières et la création de nouveaux matériaux, mais il nécessite aussi de nombreuses étapes énergivores : collecte, transport, transformation, etc.
Conscient de cette problématique, le designer grec George Bosnas a donc imaginé un emballage réellement respectueux de l’environnement, le Biopack. Il a développé une boîte d’œufs entièrement compostable et qui, une fois plantée dans la terre, fait pousser des légumineuses.
Une boîte d’œufs qui se plante après usage
Le contenant est composé de pâte à papier, de farine, d’amidon et de graines de légumineuses biologiques. Il suffit de mettre en terre la boîte (dans son jardin ou dans un bac pour balcon) et de l’arroser pour que les graines puissent germer. Sur son site, le designer explique que le processus (décomposition et croissance des plants) prend environ 30 jours. L’emballage, une fois décomposé, favoriserait par ailleurs la fertilité du sol.
Voilà enfin un contenant 100% écologique ! L’invention de George Bosnas n’est toutefois pas extraordinaire, soyons honnêtes. Il est en effet aujourd’hui possible d’utiliser des boîtes d’œufs en carton biodégradable pour réaliser ses semis. Il suffit de mettre de la terre, un peu de compost, d’ajouter des graines et de planter les « godets » en terre. Mais nous consommateurs, nous avons souvent un gros baobab dans la main. Avec le Biopack, plus de perte de temps. On mange ses œufs et on plante tout de suite sa boîte. Nul besoin de passer par la case Jardiland. Et ça, c’est vraiment innovant !
